Supplements

Evidence-based supplements. No hype. Just facts.

What the ingredient does, what the evidence supports, and where it does not.

How I think about supplements

Most supplement marketing is built on a real ingredient wrapped in claims the evidence does not support. The useful version tells you what an ingredient does, how strong the evidence actually is, and where it is weaker than people assume.

What each entry will cover

  • The ingredient
  • Why someone might use it
  • What the evidence actually supports
  • What quality looks like
  • Cautions and interactions

Two worth saying now

Cranberry. What matters is the standardized proanthocyanidin content, not the word cranberry on the label. Formulation varies enormously and the evidence is modest but real in selected patients.

D-mannose. Some people have success with it, particularly for E. coli infections.
