Question: Do you think technology is assisting prostate and urinary problems at a pace it should be?
Answer: Urology has always been in the forefront of technology in medicine. It was one of the things that attracted me to the specialty. As evidence of this, urology was an early adapter of lasers, shock wave technology, microwave, percutaneous and implantable nerve stimulators, radio frequency ablation and robotic surgery. Robotic prostatectomy is one of the most common uses of the da Vinci Robotic surgery system. I'm proud to be in a specialty that is forward thinking with the use of technology and look forward to the new technologies in the future.
